Therapy for LGBTQ+ and Gender Affirmation

There are many reasons why folx come to LGBTQ+ and gender affirmation counseling. Some are looking for help to come out to family and friends. Others are interested in exploring gender identity. Perhaps you want someone to see you for who you are: proud and queer. My work with my queer clients includes dealing with the effects of homo-, bi-, and transphobia, exploring the gender spectrum, and transitioning genders. I provide a safe space for all of this and more.

I am a queer therapist and mom of a nonbinary trans adult child. It’s important to me that folks understand that my gender affirmation therapy does not have a specific agenda, other than acceptance and exploration. My work in this area is informed through my affiliation with WPATH, the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, which promotes evidence based care, education, research, public policy, and respect in transgender health. I stand with WPATH in envisioning a world where people of all gender identities and gender expressions have access to evidence-based healthcare, social services, justice, and equality.

I am interested in exploring, validating, celebrating and processing the gender journey, with no particular destination in mind. I believe every person deserves compassion, dignity and healing, and that no one deserves to be blamed or shamed.

“Molly is creative and flexible. She brings a wide range of techniques to her therapeutic approach and is constantly learning. The tools and resources she has provided us have helped us reduce our anxiety and support our child on their gender journey.”

“Some therapists will say they have experience with working with Trans clients when they really don’t.  Molly is the probably one of the only Cis therapists I would trust. She absolutely knows what she’s doing. She listens, she understands, she’s respectful and she’s smart. It’s obvious that she cares, but it’s also really important to me that she works through a social justice lens. She doesn’t shy away from the realities of what I face as a trans female.”
