Therapy for Parents and Families
Every Family Is Welcome Here
My welcoming and inclusive practice is designed to understand the unique dynamics each type of family brings.
I have experience working with all kinds of family configurations: nuclear, blended, chosen, biological, divorced or separated, polycules, relationships among close friends and roommates, and parents with children from tweens to adults.
Every family develops its own patterns of connection, communication, conflict, and care, many of which operate just beneath the surface, which quietly shapes everyone’s experience. My work is to help you see and understand those patterns, so that your family can function more successfully, on its own terms, in its own form.
How I Work
I view families as a system, seeing each person as part of an interconnected web of relationships, rather than in isolation. When a person shifts their behavior, understanding, or sense of self, it creates ripples that can transform the entire system.
I also draw on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a research-backed approach that focuses beneath surface conflicts to the deeper emotional needs that drive them. EFT helps family members identify the cycles that keep them stuck and guides them to build new patterns of connection, trust, and responsiveness.
With over 30 years of experience working with families in a number of capacities, I bring extensive training and my own background as a teacher, mentor, coach, and parent to every session. I hold space for the ways that culture, identity, and lived experience shape family life, and I never assume there is only one right way for a family to be.
What We Work On Together
- Uncovering the unspoken dynamics, roles, and patterns that have developed in your family, sometimes over years.
- Building practical communication tools you can use at home, in the moment, when it matters most.
- Healing old wounds and shifting entrenched cycles.
- Navigating transitions, including adolescence, launching adult children, family restructuring, identity shifts, grief, and more.
- Understanding each other more fully, so the whole family can function better.
